      Senior User Experience Designer Interview

      Oct 12, 2016
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Palo Alto, CA
      No offer
      Negative experience

      Application

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Slalom (Palo Alto, CA) in Oct 2016

      Interview

Initial communications with recruiting was stellar. Open and forthcoming about the company, how they want to do business, and what their plans are for the future. Recruiter set up the first on-site interview with himself and another senior designer. On the day of the interview, the designer cancelled a couple of hours prior to the meeting. I took the day off so I met with the recruiter and got lots of people info about the company. The recruiter set up another interview a couple of weeks later with the design manager and the same designer that cancelled the first time. Neither of them showed up to office for the interview. The designer called into the interview. I didn't speak with the design manager at all. Two days of PTO down the drain because they couldn't be bothered to look at my portfolio before the scheduled meeting.

      Interview

Slalom’s process was one of several interviews spread across a couple of months. It was the longest, most thorough interviews I’ve experienced, and they spent as much time determine if I was a cultural fit as they did affirming that I had the professional skills needed to serve their clients.

Describe a time you had to deal with a difficult client, and how did you make it work?
