After submitting my resume and a CL online, through the Slalom site, I found and reached out to the Phoenix recruiting manager on Linkedin, to see if it was possible to get the process started quickly. I made contact, and scheduled a lunch with him for the following week.
Lunch went very well, and was more informal than your typical screening interview. It's apparent that Slalom really wants to ensure a good cultural fit, because much of the conversation steered towards my personal life. We did talk a lot about professional goals, the needs and challenges at Slalom Phoenix, and what practice area made sense for me to make an impact. After the lunch, it was indicated that I would be set up to meet another few people at Slalom to continue the interview process.
A more formal interview was set up for early the following week with the Client Service Partner at the Slalom office. This round got a bit more in depth with my work history, job skills, and career aspirations. I made a great connection, and was very impressed with my interviewer. We ran over time a bit, but I was able to address most of her questions effectively. Immediately following was another lunch interview with a Consultant who would be a potential peer at Slalom. This round was again less formal, and more driving towards a cultural fit. We ended up having a lot in common, and think it went well for me. He wasn't sure what the next step would be, but told me to expect to hear back from the recruiting manager in a day or two.
I heard back the following day, and was asked to come back into the office one final time for a sit down with the Delivery Leadership practice area lead. This last round was again a deeper dive into my work experience, how I've handled different situations, and what I think I'd bring to the table at Slalom. We ran way over time (usually a good sign), and I felt I made another good connection. This was really a huge thing for me as I went through the process - each person I met at Slalom seemed to have a great personality, and genuinely enjoyed working there. I made a point to ask them all about it, because the Glassdoor reviews seemed almost too good to be true. (My findings are that they are absolutely true, and everyone at Slalom really does love it.) So my last interview ended well, with another indication that I'd hear from my recruiting contact shortly.
The following day, I heard back, and was very pleased to hear they were interested in making an offer. There was not much room for negotiation, but we arrived at a package that was comfortable to me, and I accepted. The whole process took less than two weeks, and was enjoyable throughout. So far, I'm still very happy with my decision to join Slalom.
