I applied online. The process took 5 months. I interviewed at SiriusXM (New York, NY) in Apr 2013
Interview
Was contacted immediately after submitting my resume and called in to meet the hiring manager, then a week later met the VP. That is when the process stopped. I was told they wanted to make a decision in a week. I followed up with HR weekly, then monthly. The responses from HR got increasing rude and terse. Finally 4 MONTHS after my final interview and only after following up I was told the hiring manager decided to go with another candidate. A couple months later I saw the job reposted so I reached out to the hiring manager and got one of the rudest replies from any HR person I've ever seen.

Over the interviews with the relevant people on the team were on point
I applied through an employee referral. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at SiriusXM (Irving, TX) in Nov 2015
Interview
Phone interview, 2 - 30 minute interviews back to back with potential direct manager and then their manager. After a little less than two weeks I was notified on the results. If two candidates are equally matched the job goes to an internal candidate over an external candidate. I think this is a good thing. Looking forward to being on the other side of the equation in the future.

Question 1
Would there be a problem with quite a bit of travel?
I applied online. I interviewed at SiriusXM (New York, NY) in Sep 2014
Interview
I applied online, and about a month later got a call from a HR person. That call was basically the phone screening interview. A week later they had me come in and meet with four people from mixed groups - only one of the people I would potentially be working with.

Question 1
Questions were straight forward about experience. But the SVP I interviewed with kept asking questions that tried to trip you up instead of trying to assess skill or proficiency.
