      Senior Training Specialist Interview

      Application

I applied through an employee referral. The process took 5 months. I interviewed at Silicon Valley Bank (San Francisco, CA) in Jun 2021

      Interview

Three stages of interviews - for a total of 9 interviews - were conducted over a period of 4 separate days over a period of several weeks. These were mostly conversational style interviews with a sprinkling of excellent behavioral questions. Interviewers were largely friendly and approachable but two interviewers asked questions for the wrong positions (they were interviewing for several roles at a time and apparently got their wires crossed). One interviewer - who I learned was intentionally thrown in to the mix to see how I would handle a challenging leader - was cynical, condescending and borderline rude. In short, expect the odd curve ball. Follow up by SVB was poor. They indicated there would be a response by a certain date but nothing happened. I followed up a week later and they said that they would have some information by the end of that week. Nothing happened. Finally, one month after the final interview, I asked them if I could please have an answer - to which I received a standard e-form letter confirming the position had been filled. I am good with their decision but their follow up was disappointing given that their values espouse empathy, taking responsibility, and acting with integrity. When someone invests this much time interviewing with your company, shouldn't you treat them with a little more consideration and respect?
