      Technical Trainer Interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at ServiceNow in Oct 2024

      No offer
      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied through an employee referral. The process took 2 months. I interviewed at ServiceNow (London, England) in Sep 2014

      Interview

I was referred by an employee who praised the company as well as the position and told me that they were desperate to get talented, experienced and certified professionals like me on board. I wish I had known what was coming... After waiting for about 4 weeks, I got some info, which made it clear to me that the senior HR person in charge only read the job titles I held previously. Based on that he decided that my application was 'all over the place' and even asked my referral whether he knew me or I just used his name when applied. I should've withdrawn my application at that point, but my pal insisted that the job was worth the hassle. He explained my background, experience etc. to hr and a few days later I was contacted by an interview scheduler. We set up a phone interview with the above mentioned senior hr person, and went through my background, qualifications and experience. He was happy with that, so I waited for the second round. I was contacted then 2 weeks later to set up the second interview with the hiring manager and was told it will last for about 45 mins. When I got the call, the manager was in a common area, you could hear people talking loudly in the background. He asked me to hold until he gets to an office. When he managed that, he abruptly told me that he has no idea why HR scheduled 45 mins, he will only spend 10-15 mins to get answers to his questions. Usually at this point I thank for their time and put the phone down, but wanted to see where it goes. I managed to overcome the surprise and answered all his questions. It seemed that he was happy with them because he said he will ask HR to set up the final, face-to-face interview. I waited for the email to schedule the final round, but weeks passed and no-one contacted me. My pal said to be patient as they were very busy, he was sure it was just that. Then on the third week after the 2nd interview, I got a template "Thank you, but no" email, saying that after careful review of my background against the position’s requirements and completion of my phone call, the hiring manager has decided to pursue a candidate whose skills and experience more closely match the position's needs. I said, OK, I would like to get a more detailed feedback as this is BS. I was sure about my experience, etc. and my pal had very high hopes to be working together soon. (He knew I wasn't damaged good and was gobsmacked to hear about the reply.) The reply I received nearly shoot my head through the roof. They said they felt that other candidates had more experience with programming - which by the way would have been tested/assessed during the last interview, so they had no real idea about my level of programming skills apart from reading my CV. Also, they referred to the change in need of foreign languages. I went back to reflect the facts: 1. programming skills would have been assessed during the last interview to see if they meet their requirements. 2. The job description in place when applied contained nothing about foreign languages. Therefore my application should have been reviewed accordingly, or at least given a chance to decide whether I wanted to be measured against the new specification. HR offered to set up a phone call with the hiring manager, but by this time I knew that I won't get any honest, straight answer. The job description on their website is still the same as it was when I applied back in September. I'm disappointed that I wasted so much time on this people, hopefully other people will be wiser and think twice before they apply.

      Interview

My interview process began with an initial conversation with the talent acquisition lead, followed by individual interviews with two different hiring managers. After receiving an final technical interview invitation, I confirmed my attendance via email. Since I had accepted the meeting on a different account, I was later emailed to confirm my attendance. I responded over the weekend before the scheduled technical interview, confirming that I would be attending. However, it seemed they hadn’t seen my confirmation. On the day of the interview, I joined the Zoom call and waited for others to join. When no one showed up, I called the talent acquisition lead and was informed that the interview had been canceled because they hadn’t received my confirmation. During this call, I was also told that the position had already been filled. Afterward, I forwarded my original confirmation email to the talent acquisition lead, but did not receive a response. This experience was disappointing and felt unprofessional, especially considering the time and effort I had invested in multiple rounds and the effort put in to prepare for the techncial interview.

      Interview

I applied online via Glassdoor and after 1 month a recruiter contacted me. The recruiter sent over several email questions and then presented my responses to the hiring manager. The recruiter followed up with a long list of technical programming experience question since they were beyond my skill set I withdrew my application. I was contacted again and asked to speak to the hiring manager. I had a Zoom video call with the hiring manager which was pleasant but not encouraging. She said they mostly teach virtually using Zoom and that the class can have up to 25 students. Based on my many years of experience as a trainer that instructor to student ratio Is not good instructional practice. I withdrew my application because I want to work for a company that honors good instructional practices when educating customers.
