I applied through a recruiter. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at ServiceHouse in Jul 2018
Interview
I tried to apply to company via the request from the recruiter.
First stage was an online-coding section with codility resource.
After I succeeded the recruiter sent me an individual coding task which I had to complete within couple of days.
Task was not too difficult, but contained very strict condition - it must be placed in private repository!!
(Oh my god!! What if someone will suddenly discover it in public!! :O)
Okay, I did the task as best as I could and shared it back to recruiter.
After that the recruiter scheduled a meeting with two persons who introduced themselves as project manager and lead developer.
As far as I remember, only one of them fully introduced himself to me, and the second either simply nodded or gave out some fragments of unfinished phrases.
The conversation with these two people took place in some kind of tense and gloomy atmosphere, as if it were some kind of interrogation rather than an interview.
The one who introduced himself as the lead developer asked me questions about my code and without even giving me an opportunity to give a proper answer - just made changes to my code in the way he himself considered necessary.
I did not even know what to answer properly, as he seemed to deliberately create a stressful situation in order to knock me down and confuse me.
After that shocking conversation I wrote to the recruiter and said out of courtesy that we had a "good" conversation and I am expecting a positive feedback.
Within half an hour the recruiter got back to me and tried to "break the news" that unfortunately those two refused my candidature because I am,"supposedly, unable to express my thoughts clearly".
I found such a comment offensive in some sense, and after reading the reviews about this company on the site, I was even glad that I was not accepted there.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
The questions were about the basic design patterns of the REST-api and some questions about database layer, like using Transactional annotation.
I applied through a recruiter. The process took 2 months. I interviewed at ServiceHouse in Feb 2022
Interview
First Interview was with the one with the recruiter.
Second, very exhaustive online assessment.
Third, Technical Interview with devs.
Fourth, Organizational related interview leads to offer.
After completing every step successfully, only received one text from first recruiter a week later stated that, company believed that I am more into Netherlands than ServiceHouse thus they will not follow with me :) All I did was, after a dozen questions about the vacancy and company, I asked a one or two questions about life in Amersfoort since I heard about the just with this process.
Their attitude was quite rude, they did not even care to inform me themselves. I spent my time just to be treated like an illegal immigrant. For such a small tier 3 company, they delusionally seem to hear that I dreamed to work there since my childhood, they unreasonably seem to hear that changing country is less than changing job.
I am already in the Netherlands now for another company, but this process went so disappointing I wanted to write a review down here. I think I feel like that I dodged a bullet, if you have any opportunity elsewhere please consider it. Otherwise blatantly lie to them that you only care about ServiceHouse, which you probably heard about first when your process begin.
