I was called and invited to an interview with Serve the People for a social work position. The interview was scheduled for the coming weekend. I did not receive an immediate invite/link to the virtual interview. Three days later, when I was considering calling and asking if they wouldn't mind sending the interview link, I received a rejection email (automated) from Indeed.org. I found it unprofessional that my interview was being cancelled in this manner, but moved on. I then received a voicemail on the day and time of the original interview asking where I was! When I called back moments after receiving the voicemail, I was told, "my resume had been shredded," "maybe the invite went to spam," and "we will call you back." There was, of course, no invite in my spam, nor anywhere... they had clearly forgot to send it, and forgotten to turn off or manage Employer Assist on Indeed. In the end, I never received a call back. I was also not offered an apology. In their mind, I had made a mistake on my part. Very all around unprofessional experience, and distressing for someone who is genuinely looking for wonderful places to work as a social worker after time off as a stay at home parent.
