Initial call with hiring manager was cold and didn't ask questions related to role. Also didn't comment on my answers. She seemed disinterested and not really present in the conversation.
They asked for an extensive, two page unpaid assignment to mine social ideas for, and then paused all hiring for the department. Then they keep "open social media" applications live despite not hiring all year. Ghosting / lack of feedback / rescinding all common. CEO more concerned with her podcast than floundering ARR. Avoid this place.
I applied online. The process took 4 months. I interviewed at Serotonin in Apr 2025
Interview
I had a really disappointing experience interviewing with Serotonin. The head of recruitment who conducted the interview was shockingly unprofessional from the get-go. She didn’t bother to introduce herself or give any kind of overview of the company or role, it felt like she didn’t want to be there at all.
The moment I mentioned I didn’t have direct experience in a specific niche (which was never mentioned on my resume to begin with), her interest visibly dropped. It was clear she hadn’t read my background properly beforehand.
Within just 10 minutes, she jumped straight to asking if I had any questions for her. When I did ask something, she responded in a rushed, surface-level way, like she just wanted to wrap things up and move on. The whole thing felt transactional and cold.
If you're considering applying here, I highly recommend reading the Glassdoor reviews first, there's a reason this company sits at 2.8/5. That low rating isn’t random. Don’t waste your time like I did.
