      Sr. Product Manager Interview

      Mar 27, 2021
      Anonymous interview candidate
      San Diego, CA
      No offer
      Neutral experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. I interviewed at Seismic (San Diego, CA) in Dec 2020

      Interview

Pretty standard. Phone Screen with a recruiter, very basic, then a phone interview with the hiring manager. I didn't make it past the hiring manager interview but after that would be an interview with other people you would work with: other product managers, UX, software devs etc.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

How do you prioritize? Talk about one B2B SaaS product: What do they do well? What do they not do well? How have they differentiated themselves from their competitors?

      Negative experience

      Application

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Seismic (Hyderābād) in Jul 2025

      Interview

Went through three rounds with positive feedback one after another and then interview lined up with SVP of Products in the fourth round. The fourth round never happened as the the SVP of product never attended the meeting and I was kept waiting in the Zoom meeting for 15 minutes and then I dropped off of it. Then HR team said that the SVP has requested the meeting to the next week but HR team forgot to update me on that because the HR person responsible for the process was on leave on the interview date. The next week the meeting was never set up and towards the end of the week I was notified with the typical HR statement that another candidate for the role has reached to the offer stage and they will keep my profile for any future roles that may arise. The entire interview process should have been handled in a lot better and transparent way.

      Application

      Interview

First call with a recruiter they talked way too fast, but at least they were friendly. Second call with the hiring manager was weird. Friendly but talked too much about them and little about me. Do they expect me to interrupt? Very odd infrastructure-focused PM role that’s not user-facing at all. They will have a really REALLY really hard time finding that person. A former software engineer turned PM is best, but they said they didn’t want that kind of person? They also don’t like “full stack” PMs which is very odd. Hiring manager talked nicely, but at the end of the day it was just leadership platitudes. Nothing substantial.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

What would it take if we switched from Azure to AWS or GCP? What are the benefits of choosing one or another? What if we used multiple cloud providers at the same time?
