I recently applied for the Graduate Technical Writer position (which in reality required work closer to a DevRel role).
The assignment was practical and well-structured, and I appreciated the clarity of expectations. However, after submission, I received no update, feedback, or even a rejection email for several weeks.
Ironically, when I participated as a community member, I received quick and thoughtful feedback on my improvement suggestions. But once I became a candidate, there was complete silence — even after multiple follow-ups.
The hiring process felt non-transparent and lacking in accountability.
Rejection itself is not the issue.
What is disappointing is the approach of leaving a candidate, who invested significant time and effort, without any acknowledgment or communication.
Especially for a company that identifies itself as community-driven, I believe applicants should also be treated as partners and members of that community — not ignored once they enter the hiring process.
