Freelance, Contract, Or Full-Time Graphic Designer Interview

      Jun 2, 2015
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Philadelphia, PA
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at Robert Half (Philadelphia, PA) in Apr 2015

      Interview

I was disenchanted at my then current place of employment and expressed a desire to The Creative Group leave that company and move on, seeking freelance, short-term contract, or even full time work. I was telephoned by an enthusiastic-sounding head hunter/ case worker within two weeks of completing the following preliminary steps: Online form completion and resume composition and electronic submission. I was told I was just what they were looking for and was invited to come to the office for a 90-minute portfolio review just as soon as I was immediately available, as they had "hundreds" of opportunities but could only offer them to people who were immediately available to start. After completing some additional paperwork at their office, I was introduced to my case worker and we went to her office to review my portfolio and to get to know each other better. We had a short chat on general topics such as books, films, and other neutral themes (assume this was employed to gauge overall social skills of candidates). I was ensured that my qualifications and skill sets were readily marketable, and I left the office feeling confident that I would soon be offered at least some freelance assignments, but just a few days later I learned that my career coach had suddenly left the company when I telephoned to speak to her about opportunities, and to ask if she and her associates were finished reviewing the samples that I had left with her, at her suggestion. When I picked up my samples a few days later, I met the current career coach assigned to me for a total of about five seconds; just long enough to shake hands and receive my samples, which were literally stuffed into my sample case in a haphazard manner. Attempts at follow-up telephone and email communication with my new case worker proved futile, leaving me with a very poor opinion of the company as a whole. They seem to be very disorganized, and may suffer from employee churn.
