I was contacted by an HR from Revolut UK office on LinkedIn where he mentioned they would like to discuss a potential job opportunity with me. Post this, I was asked to select a slot for first round of discussion with an HR from Revolut India office. Expected this to be a normal first round discussion since it was with the HR. She asked me my background, explained the process and asked my comfort with SQL. I told her I’ve worked on Open SQL in the past, to which she said it’s a good to have skill and not a mandate anymore. However, a few days later I get a mail from her saying I’m not suitable for the role. In what world do you contact a candidate citing their profile is a good fit and reject them a few days later without getting into their work experience. I wonder if Revolut is aiming to make India a back office and hence the strong insistence on SQL. Overall pretty negative experience and won’t recommend any non coder to consider going through the process unless they want to waste their time.
Also a lot of people from my network have been through exact experience with Revolut so it’s possible that they are just scouting in the dark with no clear direction in mind.
