      Associate Editor Interview

      Nov 26, 2019
      Anonymous interview candidate
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. I interviewed at Red Ventures

      Interview

The process itself was normal: they reached out to me by email and then we coordinated an initial phone screen. The interview was fairly easy but super weird because I had applied for a specific role and during the same call they tried to shove in a completely different role (that was even in another state!) and then seemed disappointed when I didn't show interest in this role I had not even applied for. A few days later they just sent me a very impersonal, automated rejection email.

      Application

I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Red Ventures

      Interview

The interview was very smooth and straightforward. Had one call with a woman from talent acquisition after applying online through the company portal. Scheduling the interview was automated and simple. I worked with the same woman throughout the duration of the process and she was very professional, polite, and helpful. Truly a pleasure to work with. I thought to myself after the interview - if all employees at this company are this nice, I want to work here. I didn't get offered the job but still had an enjoyable experience!

      Application

I applied through an employee referral. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Red Ventures

      Interview

Very thorough interview process. The rounds were as follows: - 30-minute phone interview with recruiter - 45-minute Zoom interview with a senior editor - 2-hour series of Zoom interviews with various team members - Final step would have been a phone interview with a VP, but I didn't make it to that part of the process. All my interviewers were very engaging and pleasant to talk with. They seemed genuinely interested in me and my professional experience - and passionate about working at Red Ventures.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

Mix of standard questions (tell me about yourself/your work history, etc.), situational questions (tell me about a time you faced a problem at work and how you solved it), and position-specific questions (have you had experience managing other writers?)
