I didn't interview with anyone from HR for a job at Rakuten.com, just the team members I would end up working with. I had both phone interviews and in-person interviews. The in-person interview was casual, and the team offered me some of the catered lunch that was brought in that day. The team members were friendly and welcoming.

Interview
The hiring process was very easy and straight forward. I was referred by a current employee, and I went through one day of interviews with 3 people. The culture is very open, casual and laid back. There was no formal structure for interviewing.
