      Interview

The initial stages of the process were promising, with a professional and engaging first call. However, the next step in the interview process felt unstructured and impersonal. During the call, an AI notetaker was present, which I hadn’t been informed about in advance. The conversation itself felt rushed and superficial, with a series of questions that didn’t seem tailored to my experience. There was minimal engagement with my answers, and the overall tone lacked the professionalism I had encountered earlier in the process. When I asked about the team’s approach to documentation, I learned that it was underdeveloped—a concern, especially for a fintech company where clear processes are crucial. This raised questions about the team’s overall organization and priorities. Unfortunately, this experience fell far short of my expectations based on the earlier interactions. The interview process seemed more focused on ticking boxes than genuinely assessing skills or fit. I hope they consider refining their approach to create a more thoughtful and engaging candidate experience.

Thank you for sharing your candid feedback about your interview experience. We sincerely apologize that it didn't meet your expectations, and we take your comments very seriously as we strive to provide the best candidate experience possible. It's true that we use an AI transcription tool during interviews to help our interviewers stay fully present in conversations while ensuring accurate documentation of discussions. We typically inform candidates about this practice and obtain their consent beforehand. We apologize for failing to do so in your case. We're particularly concerned to hear that the interview felt like a box-ticking exercise rather than a genuine assessment of your skills and fit. This is far from our intended approach. While we aim to maintain consistency in our evaluation process to ensure fairness, we equally value meaningful engagement and personal connection with each candidate. Regarding your comment on documentation: at Qonto, we pride ourselves on maintaining high documentation standards. We regret that we weren't able to properly demonstrate this during our exchanges, as it's a fundamental aspect of how we work. Your feedback is invaluable in helping us improve our recruitment process. Thank you again for taking the time to share your experience. We wish you the very best in your future endeavors.

      Barcelona
      Declined offer
      Positive experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Qonto (Barcelona) in Apr 2025

      Interview

I have been interviewing for over 4 months, and Qonto has been without any doubt the overall best experience: the recruiter had an amazing care in sharing how's life at Qonto, such as project lifecycle, role responsabilities, benefits and next steps in the process. She always asked me for feedback from my side at each step, while sharing it from the interviewer(s) side. Once I got an offer, they even accommodated a interview that I requested with the Hiring Manager to dive deeper into the team, the project and technologies used. I have been vocal that I was interviewing with other companies, and they totally understood my situation, giving me 48hrs to take a decision (since they were other candidates for the position). In the end, I did not accept because of domain (FinTech) and tech stack (Go and Ruby) with little space for DevOps (which is something that I am skilled of as well).

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

Behavioural questions on my last working experience (stack holder interaction, project ownership, planning and delivery). Several questions on code challenge solution that I provided, focusing on RDBMS (isolation level, concurrency, locks).Interviewers were (in my case) experienced Qonters (>4 years tenure).

      Application

I applied online. I interviewed at Qonto (Milan) in Apr 2025

      Interview

A friendly exploratory interview with a Qonto recruiter/HR person. She decided to bring up salaries fairly early and we decided to stop at that point as the maximum available salary for the position was below my current one. Perfectly reasonable - nobody wastes time. (So interpret "Interview difficulty" with that in mind.)

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

To summarise my experience and include details about projects I had found most challenging.

      Application

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Qonto (Paris) in Mar 2025

      Interview

The interview process was well-structured and comprehensive: - Initial screening call - In-depth interview with the hiring manager - Take-home technical assignment - Solution review session with two engineering team members - Final interview focused on cultural fit and overall assessment While I found that technical round could have been more challenging, I genuinely appreciated the overall process. The recruiter was exceptionally helpful, providing extensive materials about the company's values and culture, and consistently sharing constructive feedback after each interview stage.
