I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Plum Paper (Vista, CA) in Oct 2025
Interview
First round was a phone screening that was both impersonal and short. I was shocked to receive a second round based on that small introduction. The second round was more technical with a face to face (virtual) interview. This manager seemed far more personable and "ready" to hire. The contrast in two managers was a major red flag.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
"Here is my assessment of you, do you think I am right about that?" I mean, yeah, dawg. I guess. So the final interviewer asked plenty of questions both for technical acumen and general culture. But I found the disconnect in the fact that he was working under a different company in Canada vs this office in Vista. Two different companies under one conglomerate that owns Avery products that owns multiple paper / stationary stores. My confidence dropped in knowing that my direct lead does not have the ability to question or lead a potential hire. So, if I needed to ask someone for help, I'd call this random guy in Canada not my boss sitting next to me. I'm supposed to have confidence and defer to the boss? Nah.
I applied through a recruiter. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at Plum Paper (Vista, CA) in Jan 2025
Interview
The interview was over the phone with who would have been my higher-up. She was super friendly as easy to talk to so I didn't feel nervous. However, at the end of the interview she said I would hear back in a few days and despite my reaching out never heard back.
I applied online. The process took 2 days. I interviewed at Plum Paper (Oceanside, CA) in Jan 2018
Interview
Short, somewhat nondescript as to what position they were interviewing me for, but for the most part standard procedure first meeting interview, followed by a photoshop & illustrator skills test that was very oriented to what you'd expect to be doing for a company like this. Very friendly individuals, mentioned that the job included benefits at the initial meeting, but were not upfront about what pay was (question was immediately shut down). Received no follow up after the skills test.
