Interview
The first step is a phone interview, where we talked a bit about what the company was doing, where they wanted to go in the future, what type of candidate they were looking for, and my own background.
We then set up a visit to the office, where they showed me some of the tools and processes they use. Because I was living in a different city at the time, this took a while. I spoke to the principals about their vision, values and beliefs, as well as where I was coming from.
Usually there is also some form of skills test—with me it was more of a process test, but we've since established more guidelines around that.
The final step is to meet members of the team and talk to them, ask any questions, and determine fit.
