      Associate Technical Writer Interview

      Application

I applied through an employee referral. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Ping Identity in Jun 2020

      Interview

The interview process at Ping was timely and enjoyable. The hiring manager was very friendly and made me feel at ease the whole time! I ended up accepting another job offer before the interview process concluded, but I loved learning about the culture at Ping.

We are happy to hear that you had a positive interview experience and enjoyed getting to know our Tech Writing team. We agree that they are a friendly bunch! We hope that you're enjoying your new role, and that you will reconsider Ping if you find yourself in the position to be looking for something new again. Thank you for your time and interest.

      Application

I applied online. I interviewed at Ping Identity (Denver, CO) in Jan 2021

      Interview

The application and screening were very straightforward. They're very punctual, and I've never had to wait more than 4 business days for the next steps. My only complaint is their communication on one vital factor: they don't like to hire people outside the Denver area for this position. It's very odd considering they don't mention this anywhere on their career page, job listing, or during the interview process. I live on the East Coast. When I applied the first time, my friend who works in the company talked to HR and found out that's why my application was rejected. This time I noted in my cover letter and resume that I would be willing to relocate for the position. January 28: Submitted my application. The cover letter is copy/paste, so don't waste time formatting it in Word. January 28: Received an invitation to take their cognitive test and personality test. You have 5 business days to take these tests. January 30: Took the tests. The cognitive test is called the CCAT, and I recommend taking practice tests online. It's basic IQ tests, but you have 15 minutes to answer 50 questions. I took a full day to read up on it, learn how to master the test, and improve my score. The personality test is based on the Big 5. It's fine to answer honestly and appropriately here. Feb 2: Received an auto responder inviting me to a "20-30 minute phone conversation". I responded with my best available times. The rest of the conversation went like this: "Are you willing to relocate to Denver? Thanks." "I would be willing to relocate for the right position." "Let me chat with the hiring manager and see if she is open to that as I know it is not a preference. I will let you know." Today is February 5, and I assume it's a no-go. At this point, I'm fine with not pursuing the position.
