I applied for an internship through the Viacom website and then received a phone call from an HR representative a week later. It was an impromptu phone interview so I was a little taken off guard but the questions were pretty basic. "What do you know about our company?" and "Why do you want to work at Viacom?" were the two that should be answered the most thoroughly.
The phone interviewer then asked what field I'm interested in. I told her "production" and she gave me a couple suggestions about which departments needed production interns. She requested that I number the departments according to how interested I was in working in them; I chose VH1 as my number one choice and she said that she would get back to me soon. After a couple days, the HR woman e-mailed me the contact info of a producer at VH1 and told me to set up an interview date with him. After doing so, I had the second interview with the producer and then was offered the internship position on the spot. Overall it was a straightforward process.
