I applied through a recruiter. The process took 3 days. I interviewed at PROLIFIQ (Beaverton, OR)
Interview
The interview was interesting as it was conducted by the CEO, he was straight forward, proud and blunt. I appreciated those qualities and had a mostly positive impression of the CEO (mostly for his unabashed honesty), but unimpressed with the culture he was cultivating. I believe the CEO was looking for confidence and a willingness to work massive hours above experience or any particular personality.
I appreciated the honesty as it was clear that I was not compatible with the company.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
CEO asked if I was willing to work 60+ hour weeks.
While company executives often participate in candidate interviews and selection, it is unlikely the CEO would have been involved with a web developer interview. With that being said, the “work long hours” question drives at understanding if the candidate is cultural fit. The company prides itself on doing what it takes to satisfy customer requirements and to meet timelines – sometimes that requires long hours leading up to project completion.
