      Application

I applied online. I interviewed at PETA (Los Angeles, CA) in Dec 2021

      Interview

I applied online, then after a few weeks I was given tasks to complete for evaluation: 2 written components, and making a video on a vegan topic of choice. After that, I was given short notice on an in-person interview in LA (I Live in NY), with NO costs covered. At the time I was working as a budding academic/professor with a limited wage, and the proposed dates were not only short notice and required premium last minute flight prices, but also conflicted with my end of semester exams. I asked for a later date, and they said ok, with the caveat that they weren't going to hold the job for me (rude!). I ended up finding a low priced flight, and stayed in a hostel in order to make the interview, which was about $500-600. The interview was about 6 hours of unpaid tasks that mimicked the role I'd have, so I was writing things for a few hours. Then had a face to face interview with HR, and manager, and a director. I was then offered the job a few weeks later. Pay was non-negotiable, and low for even my area of New York state. I could have been remote, or at an office in LA or Norfolk, but since pay did not change for location, and moving costs were not provided, I choose to be remote.

      Application

I applied online. The process took 4 months. I interviewed at PETA in Oct 2025

      Interview

Four month long interview process from applying to rejection. The third round was an unpaid half day working interview. After that, I went to an in person demonstration and met about 5 more PETA employees along with local activists. The application has a drop down to select personal or professional references, but I was not offered the job for an insufficient amount of professional references.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

The half day working interview included a project to create a campaign route from their HQ with specific guidelines such as less than 4 hours of driving between cities.
