I applied in-person. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Outback Steakhouse (Jacksonville, NC) in Aug 2011
Interview
I took in my application in person and was able to talk to the General Manager. I was right out of high school and 17 so she informed me that I wouldn't be able to apply to a server position until I turned 18 because of alcohol laws. We had a good brief conversation and she told me they'd call me about an interview.
I interviewed about a week later in person with a supervisor who asked me behavioral questions and situational questions. See example below. I was also given a Briggs-Meyer personality test.
I was called back a week later and offered a Hostess position with the opportunity to move to server when I turned 18. Overall, it was a pleasant and quick hiring process.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
What would you do if the phone was ringing, customers were waiting to be seated, and a server had asked you to take drink orders for table 5?
I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Outback Steakhouse
Interview
I applied online and got a call a few weeks later. When I went in for the interview I wasn't asked any real questions. I was interviewed right at a table in the restaurant. The whole process was friendly and quick.
I applied through other source. The process took 2 days. I interviewed at Outback Steakhouse (Phoenix, AZ) in Jan 2012
Interview
They had me come in before the restaurant opened. The interview was very basic. We sat in a book and there wasn't anybody around, so that made it a little easier. Hardest question I was asked was "what is integrity to you?" Said I was hired right after, and had to go to an orientation afterwards where the proprietor went over the employee handbook.
