      Senior Backend Engineer Interview

      Oct 22, 2019
      Anonymous interview candidate
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 1+ week. I interviewed at OptioPay in Oct 2019

      Interview

A recruiter contacted me. After the first phone screening, they gave me a take-home task to be submitted within 24 hours. Fine, at least give it to them on the weekends so they can avail of the free time. But NO, they gave it to me after 10 pm on a working day. So that left me with ~6 hours to finish the assignment after my full-time job and daily responsibilities. Nonetheless, I worked so hard on it and finished the assignment and submitted it. After couple of days, the recruiter sent me a generic "not moving forward with you" email. No feedback. I told him to provide me some feedback as I worked more than half a day on this assignment, but got nothing back from them. I am pretty confident in my technical abilities. And knew the solution was a good one. For a reality check, I examined my solution with 3 industry leaders. One of them is in the core go team. And another one have one best seller on go. All 3 of them said it was a very high-quality solution for a take-home task. **Suggestions for the candidates thinking applying here**: do not waste your time and energy on some company that does not value your effort. Or worse, they do not have the technical ability to judge you. Don't get fooled by the online persona of a company. It's very easy to fake one.
