      Tax Associate Interview

      Nov 5, 2018
      Anonymous employee
      Accepted offer
      Positive experience
      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied through an employee referral. I interviewed at Optima Tax Relief

      Interview

I did like the interview process and how we were able to meet with higher ups and also the trainer for the position I was applying for. I think they definitely describe what the job will require and what kind of skills and abilities they are looking for in employees and also give you clear expectations for this. I did however get the inclination with the type of Q and A during the interview and the point blank statement that this is a high paying job and that selection is very tight because they only want the best all around employees to be hired. However at no point in the conversation was there any clear mention of a 3-6 month ramp up period in which during that time it will be very little pay and that making sure you can support yourself during this period should be considered. I was under the assumption that with such strict hiring that the compensation would be there until I was trained fully and ready for that but unfortunately I was let down as $12 an hour pay is what you will be making to begin with. If our goal is to hire top level reps and get them to come to our family than compensation for that beginning time needs to be there if our goal is really to hire that kind of high end talent it will be very difficult to attract those high level reps. A higher hourly wage during that initial 30 - 60 days during ramp up might attract better sales staff as i was also informed about a $2500 bonus that was in place when hired and after getting hired I learned it is only $1000 and is broken up into two parts and are over an extended time period. Also we are a company that does all of our communication through the phone all day long and have to have hands free in order to type and communicate simultaneously but unfortunately headsets are not provided for this job which seems very ineffective as it slows down development and production from reps early on because of this challenge. It seems this should be part of the required tools given for success as it is a phone job and lack of tools can affect any position regardless of type of job.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

They asked me if i was able to be coach able and how well would I be able to adapt to the new style of our business versus the traditional sales type of position.
