An Extremely long drawn out process that plays at the heartstrings of those wanting to make a difference in the world. The interview process was unlike anything I’ve endured before. Oddly enough, you go through five panel interview from 8:30-5, then proceed to the President’s house and cook dinner for 50 people. While the group activity seems a bit unprofessional, the entire activity seems to applaud the current staff while belittling the candidates echoing sentiments of how lucky one should feel to even get this far. The organization does amazing work giving children a second chance at life repairing cleft lips and palettes and that should never be forgotten. However, the interview process is disheartening and a gives false hopes to young humanitarians wanting to make a difference.

The interview process comprised of a 30 min phone interview with an HR manager followed by a Skype interview with two members of the programs team, lasting about 30 minutes. The next step in the interview process was apparently an all-day interview in person, however, I did not receive an invitation for the final round. It was requested that I have the availability open to come to the third-round interview, however, I never received notice of a decline for an invitation for the final interview. There was an impression given that an invitation for the third round was going to be extended. I had to send more than one email before I received notification of the decline two days before the final interview. Overall, the interview process was average but I was very frustrated at the lack of follow-through from HR. I am not overly upset that I did not secure the position and still believe that Operation Smile does incredibly valuable work and is a good organization.
