I had a very disappointing experience with Onto Innovation throughout the interview process. After successfully clearing both the HR and hiring manager calls, I was invited for a panel interview. However, I was only informed about speaking with one person, but two additional individuals from a different department unexpectedly joined the conversation. They began asking coding questions that were unrelated to the role I was applying for. These questions were not aligned with the job I was being considered for, and I communicated that they didn’t match my experience.
After the panel interview, another round was scheduled. I was asked for my availability and, understanding that the team was based in China, I offered late evening times. However, the recruiter ended up scheduling the call for 11 PM. Despite the confusion, I still joined the meeting, as I was genuinely interested in the role. Unfortunately, after this round, I did not receive any updates from HR or the hiring manager, even after following up multiple times. To make matters worse, the job was reposted with 2 different levels in the title without any changes to the job description or requirements.
After months of silence, I checked the candidate portal only to find that I was no longer under consideration. The entire process felt unprofessional, with unclear expectations and poor communication, leaving me frustrated and disappointed. Such a waste of time.
