      Marketing Interview

      Feb 22, 2021
      Anonymous interview candidate
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. I interviewed at Okta in Feb 2021

      Interview

I applied online as I noticed the job description was a strong match with my background. A few days later, I received an email from the recruiter asking to submit my availability for a screening interview. I had a call with the recruiter and was very impressed with how thorough, professional, and friendly the recruiter was during the call and left the conversation very impressed. The position appeared to be a great match, and she seemed excited by my background. I moved on to the next round with the hiring manager and again had a great conversation and left the interview still feeling like it was a great match, not only with what I was looking for but also for what they are looking for in a candidate. The recruiter followed up with me the following day to inquire on how I thought the interview went, as the hiring manager was very impressed with my background. I explained that I am very excited about the role and am looking forward to continuing the process. She then set up the next round of panel interviews with three different team members at separate times. The morning of the interviews, I received an email from the recruiting coordinator that one of the panel interviews needed to be rescheduled due to a family emergency. I responded that, of course, it wouldn't be a problem, and we promptly rescheduled that interview for the following week. The other panel interviews went well; however, they asked technical questions that were not listed on the job description or my resume. I did respond that even though I didn't have that specialized experience, I am very interested in learning those skills. Fast forward to the day of the makeup interview with the panelist that had the family emergency; I arranged for child care, prepared for the interview, and waited and waited and waited for the interviewer to join the scheduled Zoom interview. After 15 minutes of waiting, I hung up and emailed the recruiter and recruiting coordinator to let them know that there must have been a conflict, as the interviewer never showed. I asked if we can reschedule again and inquired about the next steps. Unbelievably, I never received a response. No one ever got back to me acknowledging that I was ghosted at the interview or letting me know that I was no longer being considered or they were going in a different direction or?? I have no idea because it appears that once they feel that you no longer bring any value to them, they will not dignify you with a response, even after you ask for one. I have interviewed quite a bit over the last year, and their rude behavior to a candidate is disappointing. I had committed over 4 hours of my time preparing, interviewing, and arranging child care to interview with them, and they cannot commit to a single "Thanks, but no thanks" email to a candidate. Shame on them!!

      Interview

Good interview process and experience. I really liked the hiring manager and the people I met. I was very close to accepting and eventually declined the offer mainly because I decided I was not ready to leave where I was.

      Marketing Interview

      Oct 14, 2021
      Anonymous interview candidate
      San Francisco, CA
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 6 weeks. I interviewed at Okta (San Francisco, CA)

      Interview

Process was over 5 weeks long. Had about one task per week (HR screen, then an initial interview, then three interviews in one day, then a homework assignment, then had to present the assignment). After the interviews concluded I was mistakenly called and left a voicemail in which the recruiter said I was offered the job. This was before I was assigned the homework assignment. After I presented the homework assignment the recruiter emailed to say she wanted to schedule a call to talk about next steps. I emailed my availability and then was ghosted. I wish they would have simply reached out to say the position had been filled. Seems very disrespectful to not even send a rejection email after I put several hours of my time into the process.
