      Manager Interview

      Dec 1, 2020
      Anonymous interview candidate
      London, England
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 2+ months. I interviewed at Ofgem (London, England) in Sep 2020

      Interview

The remote over the interview date was moved at short notice. Originally it was scheduled using one application, then late on the night before, it was moved to an alternative that I hadn’t used on my device before. I had to chase the HR contact for a response to the online interview. Eventually I received a standard email response 6 weeks after the interview, about 10 weeks after the initial application. Not what you’d expect from the civil service, more a back street temp agency.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

Competency and technical questions, some of which I couldn’t determine the relevance to the advertised role. There was nothing to suggest they had read my CV or my supporting statement. It was a waste of time preparing answers to the supplied competency topics, since they were asked in multiple parts making the possibility of you personally experiencing it in your past very unlikely.

      Application

I applied online. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at Ofgem (London, England) in Feb 2020

      Interview

Panel interview plus short presentation. No presnting tools provided. Interview followed a ridgid set of questions. No attempt made to understand your background or overall experience. Seemed to be going through the motions to tick a box that due process had been followed.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

All internally focused so external candidates had little chance.

      Anonymous employee
      London, England
      Accepted offer
      Positive experience

      Application

I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Ofgem (London, England) in Jun 2015

      Interview

Initial question was - Why do you want this job? It was a competency based interview based upon the competencies listed in the role profile. 4 competency based questions followed by 3 role specific questions. It was one hour long and it was conducted by a panel of three people. They were very friendly and so long as you have done plenty of preparation, the interview is a breeze.
