Terrible.
First, they provide only slightly above (maybe 20 cents above) the minimum wage to begin with in their specified range for the role. Actually? You're a company that's been in business for over 15 years. 15!! And you really don't have the funding to maybe offer oh I don't know: 17!? or 19 to start? Those are REASONABLE and AT MARKET salaries to start. You are scaring off and underselling the potential of those who you want to recruit. Very Smarmy.
Second, the actual process was horrible. They wanted a cover letter (did that). Then they requested a resume (that was a given). But then they requested a separate pdf document talking about a fine dining experience and a good community service? A little odd but seemed innocuous.
Third, the next stage. They provided an automated, one-sided interview with preset questions. Guess what they were? Oh YEP you guessed it: ABOUT FOOD. Coffee or tea? What's the best meal you had? Salsa or hot sauce? and get this: only ONE question (out of about 15) was about the company. SERIOUSLY!? All of that for 15 an hour. You HAVE to be kidding me. You are selling a service that gives back to the community at large and you screen folks based on their food preference alone? Come on. Get real.
Fourth, and here's the kicker: they mentioned that same week I put in the interview that they would get back to me "Early next week". Monday and Tuesday of the following week (the initial interview I had with the preset questions was on a Tuesday of the week prior), nothing. Wednesday I send an email. That same day (within an hour) I get "great news! We'd love to have a final interview with you. I will send you some scheduling options on Friday for the next two weeks and you will be able to select a time/date that works for you."
I am writing this on Monday after that elusive and oh so sought after Friday and (you guessed it folks) NOTHING YET. Smarmy, unkind and most of all: they lie throughout the process when onboarding. Avoid this company at all costs.
PS. NucleusLabs, if you end up reading this please consider: how much effort does it take to send ONE email that says "sorry you didn't get it" or just a simple explanation that states why (which, as a job seeker, I DESERVE). Btw, this entire sphiel? Took 4 minutes. 4. I am not sure who is in charge of writing back to candidates, but for God's sake, do you REALLY NOT HAVE 4 FREAKIN' MINUTES!? Honestly.
Never onboard with them. Ever.
