I applied online. I interviewed at Norwood Land Services (Fort Worth, TX) in May 2017
Interview
Pretty lame. Perhaps the least professional of any interview I've had in my life. The kid who interviewed arrived and claimed "I haven't looked at your resume. Tell me about yourself." I've since met with a colleague who went through the same thing. The interviewer isn't a manager and has no skins on the wall. To his own admission, he came from real estate (didn't make it there either) just 3 years ago and has nothing more than his CPL. He's been in oil & gas for 3 years, 3 of the most challenging years the industry has endured with very little development occurring (rig counts reaching an all-time low). In other words, he hasn't done much. He's young, green, and has a lot to learn not only about oil & gas but certainly best practices for management (if he ever makes it here), interviewing, and professionalism. I ran operations for an E&P Company and was a senior Landman prior to that. I have more than 13 years experience in the industry. There's not much from a land perspective I haven't done, and compared to him, it's not close, not even in the same ballpark. He's worked only for a broker and yet had the audacity to say he doesn't know how much training I'd require. Had he even looked at the resume or heard what I was saying (he listens to respond, not to comprehend...at least he did this day), he likely would not have made such an absurd claim. This guy is so green he makes Iceland look like a typical West Texas September. Needless to say, he wasted my time and didn't have the courtesy to provide follow-up, as he claimed he would.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
Tell me how you would go about creating an abstract. Tell me about the Duhig rule. Tell me about CDC. (yes, clearly he's straight from a textbook)
