Phone screen, later in person panel interview. I first had a phone screen. The HR lady sent me rejection email afterwards saying they hired someone for the job. Then a few weeks later, she calls back and apparently it didn't work for them so now they want an in person interview. I didn't really want to be their backup plan but I went to the office and had a 3 person panel interview with the hiring mgr and 2 of his associates. They asked way too many STAR questions. I had an answer for everything. I felt like I did a terrific job but when I got home I realized that I should have kept my answers short, sweet and to the point. It was a real set up. They want to see if you're going to spill the beans. Don't. If you want to work here, keep your answers vanilla and vague. Remember to keep your answers to the minimum. It would be 100% better if they'd adopt a more conversational style interview. I believe they only know how to read off a scripted set of questions and jot down notes like it's a courtroom deposition.
