I applied through an employee referral. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Northwestern Mutual (Durham, NC) in Apr 2013
Interview
3 interviews, the first was over the phone with a recruiter that was behavioral, following that interview there were a series of online tests and then a second in office interview that was very relaxed and just talking to trying to find out if you are cut out for the type of work and if you will fit into the office. Following the second interview you are required to do market research, interview at least 5 people about their past experiences with financial advisors or the financial industry or insurance industry and then create a presentation to give to the recruiter and internship advisor. Job offer was extended at the end of that interview.

Question 1
Not really any just walking through the resume. What are your greatest weaknesses?
There were four or five interviews, if you count the meeting with my future mentor. There were also a few personality assessments. Lots of paperwork. The finance industry is tightly regulated.
The first interview was easygoing and went fairly well. We talked a little on myself and what northwestern was all about. Because they wanted to see how I could fit in to their team and what I would bring.

Interview
The process was smooth and straight forward. A lot of behavioral based questions, but relaxed and low stress. First phase is a phone screening followed by a teams or in person meeting.
