      Software Engineer Interview

      Sep 6, 2025
      Anonymous employee
      London, England
      Accepted offer
      Positive experience
      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 5 weeks. I interviewed at Neo4j (London, England) in Aug 2025

      Interview

The process started with a call with Talent Acquisition, followed by a discussion with the Team Lead on my experience and familiarity with graph databases and related tech. I was then given a week for a take-home assignment in any tech stack, followed by a session to expand on the solution with live coding to add features. The final rounds were behavioral interviews with the Hiring Manager and the VP of HR. Overall, the interview process felt focused and purposeful. The team provided clarity around the day-to-day responsibilities and expectations, which was very helpful. Sam supported me as the talent acquisition partner throughout. My first application for a team did not move forward, but Sam kept in touch and later connected me to another opportunity. He also helped me understand what to expect in each interview round and was very quick in providing feedback. I felt encouraged and supported throughout. From my experience, the company seems to foster a fantastic corporate culture.

      Software Engineer Interview

      Dec 13, 2023
      Anonymous interview candidate
      No offer
      Neutral experience
      Average interview

      Application

      I applied online. I interviewed at Neo4j

      Interview

The first stage was a call with a recruiter, the second with the hiring manager, and the third was coding challenge I had to resolve at home. The recruiter and the hiring manager seemed friendly. My main concern about the company was that it has negative reviews on Glassdoor and had lay-offs in the past. I asked the hiring manager about the above, but he wasn't certain about this. Surprisingly now I see a few more good reviews were added about the company, maybe they asked employees to add them, who knows. I was rejected after the coding challenge, and didn't even get a chance to explain the implementation. But this might be for good, we didn't spend any more of each other's time. Overall, this was a bizarre process for me. After the second round, I convinced myself that they were interested in me, but this idea was quickly shattered after they rejected me once I submitted the code.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

Questions about the experience, hobbies, and python questions.
