I applied online. I interviewed at National Literacy Trust in Feb 2026
Interview
Panel style interview that provided questions ahead which was useful. Interview instructions were slightly confusing regarding the length of the interview but overall had pleasant experience. My feedback was that I had great experience but they ultimately had gone with a candidate who was more concise with their answers, pretty reflective of current job market competition. Company also does not appear very representative of London, despite being a big company it appears less than 10% of staff are poc, I may be wrong though.

Question 1
Biggest challenges currently affecting children's literacy?
I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at National Literacy Trust (Birmingham, England) in Jan 2025
Interview
Online interview with a senior manager and had of department. Had to prepare a presentation ready for the interview bit was given very short notice of being invited to interview in the first place. Was asked a few questions, some of them very vague. E.g. "Tell us about a time you have worked with senior stakeholders". Other questions were quite repetitive and covered answers already covered in my application. I feel it's far more effective to ask forward looking questions such as how I would handle a situation, rather than asking for historical examples. People can just make them up anyway.
Didn't appreciate the old- fashioned application process. An application form in word. It also asked for my most current salary, which I find to be intrusive and unnecessary. I should be judged on merit of my experience and perceived qualities and skills, not my perceived value in salary.
