I applied through a recruiter. I interviewed at National Investment Center (Annapolis, MD)
Interview
Their recruiter reached out to me via LinkedIn. I wasn't really looking, but did one Zoom interview and never heard from them again. I expect better from a firm like Korn Ferry.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
I don't remember specific questions, but mostly around strategy and marketing.
Interviewed for a senior-level meeting planner position with NIC. The first interview was conducted virtually. I was told at the beginning of the interview that I would be asked their standard questions and that there would be time at the end for my questions. The first question I was asked was “have you ever planned a project?” The second question was “tell me about a time you had to make a decision. Walk me through your thought process”. No other context whatsoever.
I understand the need for a phone screen, but this organization should consider customizing questions to the specific role. Additionally, the position was advertised as “hybrid”, but you only really need to be in the office two times a year.
I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at National Investment Center (Annapolis, MD) in Feb 2015
Interview
Applied for the position on Indeed.com, roughly three days later received a phone call which served as the initial phone screening. Phase two consisted of a conference call with the Human Resources Director who provided additional information concerning the position and requested work samples that pertained to the role. Phase three consisted of an in person interview with the hiring manager where a standard interview was conducted and a review of the work samples took place. Phase four was a 3 hour in person interview with the Executive team members. I met with each of the members individually, they provided information concerning their role and conducted a brief interview. A few days later I was offered the position.
