      Support Worker Interview

      Jan 12, 2021
      Anonymous interview candidate
      London, England
      No offer
      Positive experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at Mind (London, England) in Jun 2017

      Interview

Standard interview process with 2 staff members and a service user on the panel. Standard Q&A format with time to ask questions at the end. The panel were attentive and polite, giving plenty of time to discuss questions I had about the role.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

What would you say are the key issues facing carers?

      Interview

Similarly to another review on here.... I was asked 9 questions however with each question it felt like 3 questions rolled into 1. Kind of throws you off but maybe it's because if you're working with vulnerable groups with alot of emotion they might have alot of information to tell you in one statement? I thought everyone was lovely in the office and two of my interviewers definitely were. But at one point I struggled to answer a question in depth (about new innovations in mental health), the lady next to me sighed at me and started pulling faces like I was wasting her time. I found it quite rude, and odd for someone who's meant to be championing mental health. They also give you a piece of paper with case study notes that has a lot of issues in it for you to find (the case workers is unprofessional). You have to say how you would retrain them you have 15 mins to make notes- that was the easiest part of the interview.

      Interview questions [3]

      Question 1

Name some newer innovations in mental health and social care, how are they changing the mental health sector, how would you implement them in the work place here and how do you implement them currently? (above is how long the questions are)
      Answer question

      Question 2

How would you be a good role model for the service users?
      Answer question

      Question 3

What is a typical service user journey? (there isn't one- give contrasting examples)
