      Engineering Interview

      Nov 8, 2009
      Anonymous interview candidate
      No offer
      Positive experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied through an employee referral. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Michelin in Oct 2009

      Interview

This is an excellent organization and has a very good interviewing process, focussed on identifying people who are both technically and socially a good fit with the company's long term needs. One weakness in the process was that I was never absolutely sure what position I was interviewing for, despite repeated asking! The first interview was a telephone interview that lasted about 30 minutes. It was conducted by a senior HR manager and a technical manager. Ample time was allowed for questions. Past salary information was requested at the end of the discussion. The second stage consisted of 5 one-on-one interviews and a technical presentation at their US research headquarters. Interviewers ranged from HR representative, to technical managers, to researchers. A good tour of the facility was given.

      Interview questions [2]

      Question 1

What role do you see yourself fitting in best here, as a technical expert or as a team leader?
      1 Answer

      Question 2

A technical competency test involving tire compounding/properties was given. It involved basic rubber concepts.
