      Graduate PPC Interview

      Nov 21, 2017
      Anonymous interview candidate
      No offer
      Neutral experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 1+ week. I interviewed at Merkle

      Interview

I submitted my CV and covering letter online along with a a short description of why I wanted to work for the PPC department and not any other sectors Of digital marketing. I then got invited to do a video interview which was based around competency questions - A Levels, modules at uni, what other roles have I applied for And some technical ones such as - what is Ad rank? How are Ads ranked on Google? Why PPC? I called them for feedback and they said I needed to be more enthusiastic about PPC and not just digital marketing as a whole. My advice for anyone applying - do your research extremely well and make sure you sound interested and engaged with PPC!

      Interview

Online recorded interview. It was done through a third party website. This made it difficult to clarify doubts regarding the question. However, sufficient time was provided to answer each question.

      Application

I applied online. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at Merkle (London, England) in Jan 2019

      Interview

Interesting: 5-10 minutes brief interview with each of the candidates, asking starndard questions on PPC and how it works; then in group - everyone is talking about themselves via answering four questions (something like 'what is your greates achievement).

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

One challenge: have to solve a group task - you are on island, and then your plane has crashed, and you have only the following 20 things left - which ones would you give the priority to?
      Answer question

      Interview

      - App interview, very easy, with some basic questions related to experience and academic background and basic PPC knowledge ... Second round skype interview : Logical thinking question ( how much is the annual revenue of a specific cinema?) - Very specific questions for PPC : which metric woud you use to apply for retail market and why ? ... I felt very disappointed! I had experience with PPC and they asked me questions above the PPC fundamentals, I do not have experience within retail market for example and it is unfair! it was a GRADUATE position! not a Senior or Mid Senior! Ridiculous! Requiring a lot of knowledge and experience for paying max 24.000.00

Thank you for your review. We are sorry you were disappointed with the question asked. Whilst this is a graduate position, we are looking for candidates to demonstrate not only the key basic concepts, but that you can also apply them to a client scenario. For that reason this question would have been asked to understand your familiarity with the basics and to see that you can recognise which metrics are most appropriate in this scenario. Sometimes questions are also asked not that we expect the full correct answer, but so that the interviewers can understand your way of thinking and ability to reach a logical answer at interview.
