I interviewed at Mercy Medical Center - Des Moines
Interview
Applied and received a call for an interview! It was great. I felt at ease, and the interviewer and I quickly realized my schedule wasn’t going to allow me to work the necessary hours (5am start). I think I would have loved the position, however. Mercy is a great hospital!
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
There was a lot of information to receive regarding what they do, the schedule options, the training options, etc. I mostly remember being asked about experience, schedule, goals, etc.
I applied in-person. I interviewed at Mercy Medical Center - Des Moines (Des Moines, IA) in Mar 2017
Interview
In one word....unique. Was a nursing panel interview. From the jump, interview steered towards recommending other units-nicu, l/D, surgery. Somewhere along the way, I asked a question regarding feedback on my performance as an intern on the floor and was yelled at in response about how I’m slouching and looking disinterested and how that won’t be stood for. Just for the record, was not slouching, had just asked a question and was leaning forward with my head tilted a bit-listening and engaged. Oh well, you know how that prejudice and misinterpretation thing goes. It all mellowed down a bit, everyone shook hands, and it ended on a good note I guess.
I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Mercy Medical Center - Des Moines (Des Moines, IA) in Jun 2015
Interview
Primary interview with HR was routine and more background. I was then walked over to the position's supervisor and had second interview in her office. Not overly formal nor difficult. Second interview lasted 15-20 min. I was then given a brief tour around the lab and it was over.
