I applied online. I interviewed at MegaFood (Manchester, NH) in Feb 2026
Interview
I did two interviews. I got very positive vibes, especially in the first interview. I felt like I was treated as one of the top candidates, if not the top candidate. She seemed happy about the pay range I expressed, my experience, my interest in learning, asked if I could start immediately, and she let me know at the end of the interview that her assistant would contact me the next day to schedule me for the next round, which she did.
The second round is when things got weird. She started the interview very complimentary about 2-3 things in particular in my background and asked the typical "tell me about your background" type of question. That was pretty much it for typical interview protocol. She asked me very early if I had any questions for her, and she asked one more question in the course of my asking her questions. So, I got a total of 3 questions asked by her, one being the standard "tell me about you" question and another being the standard "do you have any questions for me" question. She came off kind of socially awkward, and I'm not sure what to make of it, i.e. is she just bad at interviewing due to social skills, was it supposed to be a conversational interview or was it a trap, what was she expecting from me, was she discriminating (I'm in my 40s and a person of color). I thought the conversation went very well. But I got ignored by her when I checked in after a week of silence and rejected by the first person who interviewed me the next day. If there was a "confusing" or "misleading" option for "rate overall experience," that's what I'd select.
