      Application

I applied through an employee referral. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at Medallia (San Mateo, CA) in Feb 2020

      Interview

Referred in by a former colleague to a good internal recruiter for prospective salespeople. 30-minute screen. Complete NDA. 30-minute Zoom Meeting with the hiring manager. All standard stuff. No real 'gotchas'.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

Why do you want to leave your current position / company? Do you like hunting for new business? What do you know about Medallia / Strikedeck? Do you travel a lot for your position? Do you have BDRs in your current role? Have you made President's Club? Median deal size? Length of sales cycle? What are the personas you call upon now? What is your sales qualification process now? Do you have SCs? What motivates you? What else can I tell you about the role?

      Application

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Medallia

      Interview

Interview process was straight forward. Outside recruiter contacted me and set up meeting with hiring manager after a few qualifying questions (recent W2, markets sold into). Had one phone screen with manager and then face-to-face. Spent about 2hrs in office meeting with hiring manager and area VP. Asked about sales process talked about how they created a sales machine. Professional management. Then had a "mock meeting." Gave a case study to review then present to management and VP. Looking for types of questions asked and general flow. Last 30 minutes. Flew out to CA to meet with CEO and EVP of Sales. Always concerned when meeting the CEO/Founder! Meeting was awkward. She asked brain teaser questions. No flow to conversation, seemed like she didn't like sales people (or just me!). Quoted Malcolm Gladwell books. EVP was great, very professional. Sales management was brought in to grow company by VC. Sales team VERY different then the rest of team. Spent 3 hrs at HQ then red-eye home. Did not receive offer. CEO did not approve.
