I applied through a recruiter. I interviewed at Mad Mobile (New Delhi)
Interview
I had an interview for a software engineering position with Mad Mobile, Sri Lanka. Unfortunately, my experience during the interview was extremely disappointing and unprofessional.
During the interview, I felt like I was being bullied by the interviewers. They continuously asked questions without allowing me enough time to answer or gather my thoughts. It seemed like their intent was to assert dominance rather than genuinely assess my skills.
It's crucial for companies to value and respect candidates during the interview process, as it reflects their overall company culture and values. Therefore, I strongly urge Mad Mobile to review their interview practices and ensure that future candidates are treated with respect and given sufficient time to express themselves.
Based on my experience, I can not recommend Mad Mobile. A positive interview experience is vital for candidates to assess whether a company is a good fit for them, and unfortunately, Mad Mobile did not meet that expectation in my case.
The interview process was thorough but friendly. I met with several members of the team, starting with a standard technical interview that focused on my experience and problem-solving approach. After that, there was a more people-centric interview to assess team fit and communication style. Everyone I spoke with was professional, respectful, and genuinely interested in finding the right match for both sides. Overall, it was a well-organized process that gave me a good sense of the company culture and expectations.
I applied online. The process took 3 days. I interviewed at Mad Mobile in Sep 2023
Interview
Their job advertisement is entirely misleading. They advertise their jobs as remote. They reach out to you and tell you immediately they require all employees to work 4 days a week on-site and 1 day remotely and these terms are non-negotiable.
That is not a remote job. A hybrid job is either 2 days remote and 3 days on-site or 3 days remote and 2-days on-site. If it is 1 day remote, you might as well make it 5 days on-site and call it an on-site job. The best you can call their jobs are hybrid, but they are basically on-site roles.
Their job advertisement will say one thing to get you to apply for them, and then you find out it is something else. If you are looking for a remote role or a hybrid role, let me save you the time, this company does not offer such roles, and apply elsewhere.

Question 1
Q: Even though this job is advertised as remote, we require that you work on-site 4 days out of the week. This is non-negotiable. Is this acceptable to you?
Thank you for letting us know about your experience. All of our job descriptions have been adjusted to reflect whether or not this truly is a remote role of an in-office role here in Tampa or in our Sri Lanka office.
