      Software Engineer Interview

      Application

I applied online. I interviewed at MVSI

      Interview

I had a short phone call where I was asked to complete a three hour coding test. If I passed, I would then have to take an IQ test before even reaching the actual interview. The coding test included questions unrelated to the actual work, repeated questions, and multiple choice options with no correct answer. Some parts required memorization of specific technologies rather than testing real world problem solving skills. Based on other Glassdoor reviews, the workplace itself also seems less than stellar. I passed every coding challenge that didn’t rely on rote memorization but was ultimately rejected for refusing to complete one aspect of the test. Overall, this company’s interview process appears designed for candidates who are either desperate for a job or willing to tolerate unreasonable expectations.
