Interview
Recruiter Screen
Technical Takehome: LC Easy
Technical Screen: Interviewer was quite late and seemed hung up on trivial minutiae. Refused to believe solution was optimal despite evidence otherwise. Overall gave off an arrogant vibe and was quite a negative experience.

Question 1
What are the most important considerations when designing a recommendation system?
I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Lunchclub in Sep 2021
Interview
There's nothing to describe since I was never able to schedule an interview. I've interviewed and reached offer processes for a wide range of companies, from early-stage start-ups (e.g. post-series A companies) to huge corporations (e.g. FAANG), but this is the weirdest company I've ever dealt with. This is probably why this is my first ever review on Glassdoor.
The recruiter sends you a link to schedule an appointment with no availability. I tell him that there is no availability, and he replies I should try as often as I can until there is availability (???). I try once or twice a day only to realize that there is either no availability or availability around 5am in my timezone. I email him again if I can instead send him my availabilities, but no reply. A few days later, I spotted availabilities but the earliest I could schedule was at 7pm. One or two days later, he emails me there was something wrong with the system and sends me another link to constantly check (???). I tried again a few times and forgot about it until today. I realized the link has expired yet no email from the recruiter lol.
I am guessing that one of the traits they are looking for from the candidates is how desperate they are. So if you would like to interview or work for Lunchclub, I highly recommend you show your desperation, check the link as many times as you can, and schedule an interview at a time that is completely out of your timezone.
I have a feeling they are accepting unwanted interviews to collect more users since using their service was the only thing they emphasized... Good luck!
