The interview for a faculty position at Consumnes River College. consisted of being given a question to respond to to followed by a series of questions by the hiring panel and then a teaching demonstration on Zoom. I was well prepared for the interview however, when I was let into the Zoom meeting, the committee did not notice I was in the meeting. I overheard the dean talking to the other committee members that he did not understand why someone like me with a doctorate would apply for this position. The dean was dressed in a ball cap and Hawaiian shirt and acted like a frat boy during the interview. After the interview I came to discover the dean doesn't have a doctorate, his was in sociology and the department was in business, in the discipline he over sees and has never even worked as full time faculty. Honestly, it was one of the more insulting things I have ever had to deal with in a professional setting. The dean's comment threw off the entire interview process and were highly disruptive.
