I met with the recruiter to discuss the company and background. Then I met with the hiring manager to discuss the role and qualifications further. I was asked to complete a strategic case study. The goal was to provide a pricing analysis of Loom's website. I put together a slide deck alongside a Loom recording of the presentation. After submission, I didn't hear from the recruiter for 2 weeks. I was finally told that I didn't move forward (through a very generic email). What's interesting is that I can see that the company's own COO reviewed my video submission (and gave it a "thumbs up" - hmmm). When I asked for more feedback from the recruiter, she said that I was missing a component in my case. However, that component wasn't even included in the guidelines of the assignment. It feels like this was a giant waste of time and an opportunity for them to get "free" consulting work. We only talk about bad employees / quiet quitters / etc, but no one ever talks about how poorly employers treat honest candidates who are trying to get a job.
