I applied online. I interviewed at Lam Research (Hillsboro, OR) in Feb 2025
Interview
Fairly straightforward. Reached out by a director (no HR inovlved entirely time). For the actual interview, two interviewers, I presented my PhD research for 30 min, then they introduced their work for 30 min. Didn't ask a lot of questions so I suspect they weren't interested in my work.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
What's the biggest challenge in your work? Literally only one question was asked.
Initially, I was contacted by the HR representative, who introduced the opportunity and briefly discussed my background to ensure alignment with the role. Shortly after our conversation, she moved forward by scheduling a meeting directly with the hiring manager. The interview with the manager lasted approximately 30 minutes and focused on a series of typical interview questions, including both behavioral and technical aspects relevant to the position. The conversation was structured yet conversational, giving me an opportunity to elaborate on my experience, skills, and interest in the role.

Interview
The manager was super nice and asked about all behavioral questions. At the end of the meeting, he mentioned two positions to see which one I can be more interested in, but then I did not get any offer. I sent emails to HR and she did not reply me.
