I applied online. The process took 5 weeks. I interviewed at Lake County Forest Preserves (Libertyville, IL)
Interview
Only allowed one day to schedule interview with 4 different time slots. Interview conducted by HR and GIS Manager. Manager provides description of role, 5-10 questions asked were repetitive. Fairly straightforward interview. Received email 2 weeks after interview that they moved on with a different candidate.

Interview
Interview included several people from the team who were polite and nice overall. They wanted an Associate's Degree and 1 year experience for this position but asked some very difficult, lengthy/multi-part, and repetitive questions. Felt like overkill for the experience they wanted. I was interested in the environmental/outdoor recreation aspect, but probably would not have accepted after the interview experience so it was okay that I didn't get the offer.

Question 1
Take 2 minutes to tell an inspirational creative story about yourself or someone you know.
I had been registered on their website for several years, but when I went to apply it wouldn't accept my pw. Wouldn't allow me to change pw or create new account. I called, I submitted to "contact us" form online, I emailed. Spent way too much time on it only to learn they cut off the application deadline prior the posted date/time. Got a cold, close-minded response from HR person. Very unfortunate. They clearly do need a marketing communicator to whip this organization into shape. HR can often be the first exposure to an organizations brand, and she's not doing this one any favors.

Question 1
"our deadline of November 3 at 5:00 p.m. was firm." So wouldn't it therefore make sense to keep the job posting open until 5:00 p.m. firm?
