Interview
I got hired on as a courtesy clerk last year. I applied online and got called from their recruiter a few days later. They asked me about my school and what accomplishment I was most proud of, then scheduled me for an interview the next day with my Kroger's hiring manager. The questions were very simple and non-intrusive, such as "What do you define customer service as?" She also asked my about my volunteer experience, since I had no prior work experience as a high school senior. I was hired on the spot with minimal effort on my part. I feel like I was already guaranteed a job when I walked in there. Getting a job at Kroger, from what I've seen this past year, is just about luck. If you apply right as a vacancy opens, your application will probably get pulled first. I've also seen Kroger have a "Job Fair," which is basically where 30 pile into the foyer and stare at me pushing in carts while waiting for individual interviews.
The interview process includes application review, initial screening, one or more interviews (phone, video, or in-person), skill assessments, reference checks, and finally, a job offer or rejection notification. It was great.
