Interviewed for field tech, got offered an interview for the parts, sorry, inside sales department. Did the first interview, went well, received a tour of the facilities and the like. The second interview didn’t go as smoothly, long story short, I had to reschedule my interview. Well I called up and said why I needed to reschedule, well the interviewer was sick so he wasn’t in office. I leave a voicemail after the receptionist forwards me to his company line. Later that day I’m tied up and can not answer my phone, well it seems as though a higher up was going to be in the interview also, that would have been some helpful info had it ever been said. Now, I have voicemails from the higher up, still haven’t heard from the actual interviewer yet, and a little communication on their side probably would have made things less confusing. It’s the next day now, I get a call from the higher up, I explain the situation, which he still hasn’t gotten wind of, crazy right? So now we’re talking on my lunch break and I state that I don’t want the position, well he tries to “sell me on kraft”, or however he said it. I’m not going to go into detail, but I said that I didn’t know exactly what I wanted and I was fine not taking the position, but more selling came into play. I said to let me think about it and I’ll get back with him. It’s a Thursday, I told him Monday and he changes his tone and says, no, you don’t want it. That’s all it took for you to understand I didn’t want the position I didn’t apply for, why thank you so much for the wonderful tour of the very nice facility your company has. I guess I offended him by respectfully declining the position, because you wouldn’t think of someone that is trying to hire you saying “well you have a lot of learning to do before you’ll become a mechanic”, oh really? Well Thank you, but no thank you. Everyone else was nice though.
